It pays to think like an outsider.
I’m JJ. I studied math at MIT, have an MFA in fiction from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and spent years writing a novel. At the beginning of this year, I noticed how everyone was solving a particular AI problem in the exact same way, and I decided to turn 180 degrees. I found a solution that people did not believe existed, until they saw it for themselves. And I started a company. This is where I write about the turn my life took, the place I find myself, and what I can see from here, from my POV.
The company is Inherence. It works on Proof of Conduct: ensuring that an AI agent followed the rules they were given, using math and theoretical CS to solve trust problems.
You’ll find a mix of writing here. Some is personal essay, an up-close peek at what taking the path less traveled really looks like. Some is technically focused, including insights pulled from my team’s ongoing research; our analysis on where agent commerce is going before it gets there.
The most interesting ideas are found on the borderlands. That’s where you’ll find me. Subscribe to find out where I think all this is going.
